PROMPT: You know those Mad Max-style movies, comics, and video games where the earth has been depopulated by nuclear war or a zombie plague? That’s the sort of thing we’re NOT going to write this week. What I want to see instead is what the world looks like once it’s rebuilt itself; what does government, religion, or society in general look like 1,000 years or so after the apocalypse? What is their technology like? Their moral values? What kinds of stories might they tell about us? These are just a couple of the areas you should feel free to explore. Go crazy with it, and don’t feel constrained by the traditional boundaries of the sci-fi genre. Deviate and explore all you like.

GENRE: Post-apocalyptic, broadly construed

LENGTH: < 1,300 words

DEADLINE: Thursday, October 9, 11:59 PM
