Flash Tales, Week Nine: “Holiday Spirits”

PROMPT: As we wind down the year and enter the holiday season, let’s tell a story of the holiday spirit. That spirit can be figuritive, like a strong cup of cider or the spirit of giving in O. Henry’s “The Gift of the Magi,” or literal, like the spectres that haunt Scrooge in Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. However you choose to take the prompt, let’s use the words SNOW, BELLS, CANDLE, and CHESTNUT.

Since it is shopping season and everyone is likely to be busy, we’ll extend the deadline for this prompt by an additional six days while we at Black Ship gear up to start our own winter holiday. Stories are due on Christmas Eve; links to the stories will be posted, along with a prompt for the New Year, on December 26.

Happy holidays, everyone!

GENRE: Open

LENGTH: < 1,200 words
