Next Monday is July 4th, Independence Day, the day celebrating the anniversary of national independence. Patriotic displays and family events are organized throughout the United States.

That is what occurs on Independence Day in our world, but what about that ‘other world’? What significance does independence have in worlds filled with magic and dragons? Are those delightful creatures such as unicorns and fairies truly free, or is independence something they must struggle to obtain and maintain?

Prompt: Write a story about Independence Day in your ‘other world’

Genre: Fantasy

Word Count: 1,500 or less

Deadline: Thursday, July 7, 2016

Post your story on your blog or website and provide a link to it in the comment section of this prompt.
